No Thoroughfare

The novella tells the tale of two orphans Marguerite and Neville who are separated in infancy and raised in different countries. Marguerite grows up in France while Neville is raised in England. As young adults they each receive a mysterious inheritance that leads them to a fateful encounter in the fictional Alpine village of No Thoroughfare.Without giving away too much of the plot the story combines elements of mystery romance and drama as the two protagonists navigate their separate paths and ultimately find themselves intertwined in a series of unexpected events. It explores themes of fate love and the consequences of choices made by individuals in their lives.No Thoroughfare is a relatively lesser-known work compared to some of the other works by Collins and Dickens but it's an interesting collaboration between two celebrated authors of the Victorian era.
