Nokma & The Unfairy Tales

“Nokma & the Unfairy tales” is a merger of fiction and reality. Author was one of the twenty odd students who were exchanged with a batch of same number amongst two Navodaya Vidyalayas as part of their migration policy to promote the national integration. The two states in this case were randomly picked as Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. The prodigies from different schools were thrown in a shared dormitory to yield symphony out of cacophony. There were stories told retold lived and sometimes even relived. A teenager who himself lived and relived these stories for years decides to write all weaving them into a single plot.Besides the storyline it’s an attempt to understand the typical North Eastern culture the tribal livelihoods the social usages in the light of matriarchy and matrilineal set up. The problems of tribal people in border areas the cross border scuffles the demographic disorders and the insurgency in North East and the consequent shift in the mental psyche of the inhabitants.
