Not Without My Daughter

`Now you will never step out of Iran. You will have to live here for the rest of your life, understood?` Betty Mahmoody and her husband Dr. Sayyad Bozorg Mahmoody (a real moody person) who were residing in America came to Iran to visit his relatives there. Their four-year old daughter Mahtob was also with them. Betty could not tolerate the hideous life-style of the Iranis. She was terribly upset with the thought of staying in a country where women were considered to be less than the slaves. She was very much eager to go back to America. But, Moody and his family members were busy cooking something else for her. Very soon, the mother and her daughter were prisoners in the foreign land and foreign culture. They were puppets in the hands of a very cruel and despotic person. After a while, Betty came across a name of a person, who could help her to elope from Iran. The way was full of dangers, it was very fearful. No woman had ever tried to run away in such a manner and that to with a daughter at her side. The attempt to reach America was started with a snow storm which sounded like a bad dream.
