About The Book

The book is about the application of evolutionary computing tools like GA PSO and Flower Pollination Algorithm for an antenna array synthesis problem. An introduction to the concept of transforming electromagnetic system design into an optimization problem presented in this book would be useful to extend the technique to any engineering problem. The evolutionary computing techniques have emerged as a versatile tool and the same is evident from the study presented in this book on designing antenna arrays. Both the linear and planar array antenna designs are considered for the study and presented a step-by-step synthesis process. The optimization problems can be single or multi-objective depending on the type of the problem. On the other hand it can be single or multi-variable depending on the dimension of the problem. The antenna arrays are inherently multi-objective and multi-variable. However in this book the multi-objective translation to a single objective has been demonstrated with the requisite formulation. However the problem statements are defined for single and multi-variable for an effective insight on the impact of number of design variables in optimization.
