Numerical Simulations of Thermophoresis in a Walters-B Fluid Flow

About The Book

Boundary layer flows of viscoelastic fluids arise in numerous processes in chemical engineering systems. The thermophoretic deposition plays an important role in a variety of applications such as the production of ceramic powders in high temperature aerosol flow reactors the production of optical fibre performs by the Modified Chemical Vapour Deposition (MCVD) process and in a polymer separation. This book deals the numerical study of six significant problems involving thermophoresis on unsteady 2-D laminar free convection boundary layer flow past a vertical plate immersed in viscous and incompressible non-Newtonian fluid. The Walters-B liquid model is employed which introduces supplementary terms into the momentum conservation equation. In addition the influences of radiation Soret/Dufour effects thermal conductivity and heat sink/source also discussed. These problems are investigated numerically using the well-tested robust highly efficient implicit finite difference method of Crank-Nicolson scheme. The analysis should help researchers students scientists engineers who works in the area of numerical heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics.
