Nursing care for patients in cardiac arrest

About The Book

The content of the book deals with nursing care for patients in cardiopulmonary arrest: the knowledge and practice of nurses who provide assistance to patients in cardiopulmonary arrest (CPR) in a hospital environment. This is a descriptive exploratory study with a qualitative approach in which 40 nurses took part using semi-structured interviews as a technique and thematic content analysis to explore the data. It was found that the majority of nurses lack knowledge and updating on the subject and have difficulty in carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with quality. There is a need for updates on CPR guidelines as these are essential for providing efficient care suggesting continuous theoretical and practical training giving teams the opportunity to express their difficulties and improve their knowledge. This opens up space for discussion training and the development of new studies.
