Nutrition for male and female pigs suitable for hot climates

In recent years there has been greater demand for growth and productivity in Brazilian pig farming. Genetic advances achieved in the sector using high-performance herds have led to the frequent occurrence of animals with feed intake problems especially under heat stress conditions. Correcting the electrolyte balance by adding salts to feed is useful not only for improving animal performance but also as a means of minimising the effects of electrolyte imbalance caused by heat stress. In this sense salt supplementation in animal feed has been used to increase the intake of specific ions correcting changes in acid-base balance consequently improving animal welfare and performance with productivity and economy.
