Working for 15 years in the clinical area I was truly delighted to have elderly parents and years later after becoming a nutritionist to have the incredible experience of initiating assistance to the elderly who presented disabilities due to chronic diseases. This made me understand that I could act in an earlier stage and make it possible to improve the quality of life. Since then I have dedicated my studies to searching for and understanding the most important nutritional aggravations in the aging population. In this issue I address the issues related to the changes related to human aging associated with changes due to disease and discuss nutritional assessment and recommendations for those aging with HIV.
