About The Book

This is an account of a hydro-geophysical study conducted in the Kalahari Super-group formations of Sesheke District in western Zambia. The purpose of the study was to determine the spatial occurrence of salty groundwater. A geological model of the Kalahari Super-group formations was developed and the distribution of electrical resistivities on a regional scale was mapped using time domain electromagnetic soundings. Upon the basis of the mapped electrical resistivities the spatial distribution of brackish and saline groundwater was identified to predominantly occur in a topographic depression related to the Palaeo Lake Makgadikgadi system of Southern Africa.
