Of Parents and Son

What binds the son with his parents beyond the biological is the filial. Growing up as a true sontherefore means bowing down in filial gratitude to one’s parents. The more he grows into adulthoodthe humbler he becomes. And this humility results from recognizing the debt he owes to everybody andeverything he has received love and sustenance from. Thus a son’s gratitude to his parents is his firststep towards being grateful to things beyond his parents. He then becomes a son of Mother Earth.Consequently he is filled with love empathy compassion self-effacement and the like. It is thesehuman values that lie at the core of the bouquet of poems titled Of Parents & Son.
