About The Book

Harawene was a small black and white terrior cross who lived wild in a paddock overlooking Te Ngae Road Rotoruas busiest highway . Fascinated by the passing traffic she would stand watching it for hours becoming a silent companion to countless motorists who passed by. Tragically run over in 2008 she was mourned by thousands. Funds were raised for a bronze statue created by Mr. Fridtjof Hanson which now stands in Harawenes favourite spot over looking Te Ngae Road. Every Christmas artist Maxine Thompson places a red Christmas hat on Harawenes head. This Childrens book is in verse and is in memory of a courageous little dog who will be remembered with affection by thousands
