Oil-Source Rock Correlation of The Selected Oil and Source Rock Sample

About The Book

Four samples comprising two oil and two rock samples were analyzed using gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry to a better understanding of the source of the oils produced in the KSK-02 well using significant biomarker parameters. According to the calculated data from m/z 85 shows that parameters Pr/ n-C17 and Ph/ n-C18 were also used to classify the association between oil and source and their maximum values are 0.83 and 1.12 respectively. Isoprenoid with CPI's diagram indicates that comparatively oil of the four oil and source rock samples was deposited in a more reduced state; and the CPI value ranges from 1.0 to 1.15 the lowest recorded for RS-01 and the highest for OS-01. The index Pr/Ph of 086 - 096 was determined; the value OS-01 was higher than the value Pr/Ph and the value of OS-02 was lowest in Pr/ Ph (0.86). Furthermore the relation of Pr/ n-C17 and Ph/ n-C18 indicates that all the samples are in the region of type II and III kerogen. Finally the binary diagrams of C29 regular sterane ββ/(ββ+αα) and 20S/(20S+20R) suggesting that the sample are thermally mature and placed in the early oil window.
