Old Mortality Vol.-2

Old Mortality Volume 2 is the second volume of Sir Walter Scotts historical novel set during the Scottish Covenanter Wars of the 1670s. The novel tells the story of Henry Morton a young man who is torn between his loyalty to the king and his sympathy for the Covenanters. In Volume 2 Morton is forced to flee for his life after being accused of treason. He travels to the Highlands where he meets a group of Covenanters who are led by a charismatic preacher named Burley. Morton eventually returns to the Lowlands where he joins forces with the Covenanters in their fight against the kings forces. He is instrumental in the Battle of Drumclog where the Covenanters are victorious. Old Mortality Volume 2 is a powerful and moving novel that tells the story of a time of great conflict and upheaval in Scotland.
