On ethics and metaphysics

About The Book

The book we are now presenting is made up of a series of articles (to a certain extent independent of each other) that revolve around problems dear to Ethics and Metaphysics. Most of the texts were produced during the course of the Master's Degree in Ethics and Epistemology at the Federal University of Piauí with the exception of those I wrote while still an undergraduate in Philosophy. The reader will soon notice that most of the chapters are based on the thought of the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. This is due to the fact that the system elaborated by this thinker was the focus of my master's research which did not prevent me from having the opportunity to work with concepts from other philosophers which appear in this book (Kant Lévinas Camus Nietzsche and Rorty). As it is a collection of unpretentious works this book represents just a small sample of what I have been able to develop in terms of academic writing. We believe that there is something important to be understood in each of the texts because they propose that we think about two essential questions: what we are and how we act.
