On some operas

Twenty-five operas from the great repertoire (mainly French and Germanic) from the 18th/19th c. from Gluck to Strauss via Donizetti and Gounod etc. Thirty years of collaborations (1980-2010) with renowned institutions (Deutsche Grammophon Salzburger Festspiele Avant-Scène Opéra Fondazione Cini Venezia etc.).This is a dramaturgical study i.e. all the text and context that enable us to better understand a particular opera but also opera in general. Opera as a genre with its evolving rules social context public reception and so on. So why are we still so interested in this genre-ultra-artificial but ultra-attractive opera to the extent that it has become for example a marker of development and globalization?
