On the Move: An Intercontinental Life is a memoir in the tradition of living life histories passed from generation to generation. Born in British India and now living in Sydney Australia Avtar evokes early childhood memories of discovering the world of music and science moves on to his education in India and abroad and then returning to India to teach at Mayo college. He recalls the history of his extended family and how they fared during the Indian partition and then his marriage and children. He details his life journey as he returns to Sydney after retiring and experiences the loss of his wife some siblings and close friends.
