Ó Gaora was an important figure in the development of republicanism and the IRB in the west of Ireland and <em>On the Run</em> is a fascinating record of that turbulent era in Irish history. </p><p></p><p>Ó Gaora gives a vivid account of the social and living conditions of the people of Connemara in the early years of the twentieth century his time working as a Gaelic League organiser his experiences as a member of the IRB and the Irish Volunteers and the events he took part in during the War of Independence.</p><p></p>
