This romantic thriller set in the 1980s and 1990s of Trivandrum knits together a number of micro-stories. The plot follows a young man who has a deep crush but the romance is fleeting and he is unsure of its future. A catastrophe occurs drastically altering his life forever and as the story progresses secrets hidden deep in the city''s heart are revealed. Throughout the novel courageous women transcend cultural restraints to pursue their goals while aspirations of business success turn violence into a commodity. In the midst of it all the city becomes the silent protagonist instilling guilt in spectators whose shame overcomes their sense of justice. The novel is a compelling story about the hidden layers of relationships deception and responsibility. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Omkumar Krishnan is a marketing management professor at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management in Kozhikode (IIMK). With a Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay he has established himself as a leading faculty member in academia and takes courses on consumer behavior services marketing tourism marketing sociology for management etc. His last book was Whispering Gazes a collection of poems published with a visual element. Omkumar has edited two books on branding and his most recent global publication Emerging Work Trends in Urban India” demonstrates his capacity to address contemporary societal issues. He actively engages in consulting for the World Bank and public/private sectors including start-up companies. At IIMK he regularly organizes training programs for corporates and teachers. His extensive global travel encompassing more than 30 countries and 55 cities has broadened his perspective and enriched his writing. This is his debut novel written with all the learnings he had growing up in Trivandrum also renamed as Thiruvananthapuram.
