One of Ours

<p>Willa Sibert Cather was a American author who achieved recognition for her novels of frontier life on the Great Plains works such as O Pioneers! My Ántonia and The Song of the Lark. In 1923 she was awarded the Pulitzer for One of Ours a novel set during World War I. It tells the story of the life of Claude Wheeler a Nebraska native around the turn of the 20th century. The son of a successful Midwestern farmer and an intensely pious mother he is guaranteed a comfortable livelihood. Nevertheless Wheeler views himself as a victim of his father's success and his own inexplicable malaise.</p><p><strong> </strong></p>
