About The Book
Description
Author
This book proposes a new global optimization method called MPSO-SA. This hybrid method is the result of coupling a variant of the Particle Swarm Optimization (MPSO) algorithm with the Simulted Annealing (SA) method. Stochastic methods have made considerable progress in solving optimization problems. These include the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method developed by [Eberhart and Kennedy (1995)]. As for the simulated annealing (SA) method it is derived from the physical process of ordering the atoms of a crystal to form a perfect crystalline structure. To illustrate the performance of the proposed MPSO-SA method a comparison is made with MPSO and SA on test functions known from the literature. The MPSO-SA method is used to solve real-life interoperability problems in information systems as well as optimization and reliability problems in mechanical structures.
