Oral complications of Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy can be associated with multiple side effects which affect the patient’s quality of life. As it becomes well understood most of these side effects cannot be avoided. Several preventive measures are taken in order to limit their expression. Nevertheless most cancer patients experience difficult situations. The oral cavity is a usual site of discomfort and pain caused by chemotherapy making the dentist’s contribution to the patient’s relief extremely important.Many cancer patients are at high risk for oral complications due to their cancer treatment or the side effects of their cancer treatment. The severity of side effects depends on the individual and on the cancer treatment itself.
