Orchids of Andhra Pradesh: A Pictorial Guide

<p><i>Orchids of Andhra Pradesh: A Pictorial Guide</i> is a field guide aimed at documenting the diverse orchid species found in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh which includes the biodiverse Eastern Ghats. The book deals with 102 orchid taxa across 45 genera including one cultivated species. The main concern of this publication is narrowing of the gap between scientific knowledge and public awareness by providing detailed descriptions high-quality photographs wherever available along with information on morphology habitat distribution flowering period and ecology. Efforts are made to prepare the guide book in a clear and concise manner minimizing technical jargon to make it accessible to a broad audience. Hopefully this will pave the way for awareness and conservation of orchids in general and orchids dwelling in Andhra Pradesh in particular.</p><p><b>About the Authors: </b></p><p> Sitaram Prasad Panda holds an M.Phil. from Ravenshaw University and a Ph.D. in Botany from Utkal University. He is Scientist-D at the Botanical Survey of India Hyderabad with over two decades of work in Plant Taxonomy Ethnobotany and Biodiversity Conservation. He has published 110+ research papers and authored four books. </p><p>Yasaswinee Rout is currently working as a Junior Research Fellow at Central National Herbarium (CNH) Botanical Survey of India Kolkata India. She is working on Endemic Orchids of India and their threat assessment. She has published about 11 research articles in national and international journals.</p><p>Dr. Peddi Harikrishna has obtained Ph.D. in Botany from Osmania University Hyderabad. He has 16 years of research experience in Biodiversity Conservation Plant taxonomy and Remote Sensing & GIS applications in forestry and biodiversity. He is working as Botanist in the Botanical Survey of India Deccan Regional Centre Hyderabad. He has published 38 research papers in peer reviewed journals and he has co-authored 6 books. </p>
