Dissertation of professional master's degree in science teaching defended and approved in 07/2017 at the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro in the city of Nilópolis Rio de Janeiro Brazil. The research was developed with students from the second grade of high school at Colégio Pedro II Engenho Novo II campus which is a federal public school linked to the Ministry of Education. The proposal was to develop a teaching methodology that associates the teaching of chemistry with the student's daily life in addition to social and scientific issues and the pedagogy of Paulo Freire thus valuing the student's previous knowledge and non-formal education which should be a complement to formal education.
