An administrator's perspective on the organization and evaluation of public higher education institutions in Brazil that train medical professionals. It is understood that it is extremely necessary to pay attention to how Brazilian universities have been training medical professionals and to analyze how useful it is for the society that will be served if these professionals leave university with a more humanistic vision. Hence the ongoing evaluation of the medical training process in the country in order to guide new doctors to view the patient as a whole. This approach needs to be taught both at the undergraduate level and in terms of specialization i.e. medical residency.
