Organized Action among Informal Workers

This research has studied two sub-sectors within the informal sector viz. construction sector and street vending sector to understand their work condition as a gendered phenomenon and to examine the organizing process whatsoever they may be involved in. There is growing evidence on informal workers’ organizing. However there are not many studies that look into informal workers’ life particularly their organizing process and dynamics. This research is an attempt in that direction. The research has been able to illustrate the gender dynamics of entire process. The issues discussed in this study have been less studied. Therefore this research may be seen to make an important contribution to existing body of research.
