ORTHODONTIC - PERIODONTAL INTERRELATIONSHIP

Orthodontics is the most predictable and conservative treatment to improve many of the local etiologic factors that contribute to periodontal diseases. The interrelationship between orthodontics and periodontics often resembles symbiosis. Interaction cooperation and coordination between specialties in dentistry are extremely important in establishing diagnosis and treatment planning. Periodontal health is improved by orthodontic tooth movement whereas orthodontic tooth movement is often facilitated by periodontal therapy.
