Out of the Depths

Prayer is a deep instinct in human hearts especially at times of testing and facing our vulnerabilities. As the Psalmist says “Out of the depths I cry to you O Lord.” The chapters in this book explore two themes. First the prayers that are made as people gather round the cross – at that time of the most challenging vulnerability. Second the dynamics that operate within such “gathering” for prayer. In a world where the pace of life often leaves little space we need to create new opportunities and approaches for prayer. A proper monasticism for our time – for those who feel called to pay closer attention to these deeper concerns for themselves and for the sake of others.
