Alice Griffin and Dinah Stenens mother and father died tragically when they were quite young. The loss haunts them into adulthood. Alice is a stage actress in New York who cant commit to a relationship. When she meets Ian shes smitten but suspects its Ians four-year-old son that really captivates her. Griffin and his longtime partner are settled into a contented domesticity however Theos insistence that they adopt a child throws Griffin into a panic.
