Overview on Biochemical and Immunochemical Properties on

Mycobacteria constitute an important group of organisms. Besides several pathogenic species which affect the health of human beings and animals there are several others which can be considered as saprophytic or commensal the two major mycobacterial pathogens namely Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. leprae are known to affect the health of millions of people all over the world. In the present investigation an attempt was made to highlight the role of the biochemical constituents (composition metabolism and immunochemical characterization) in the manifestation of drug resistance in Mycobacterium.
