Parasitic Fauna of Gallus gallus domesticus

Prevalence of Gastrointestinal Helminth Parasites in Gallus gallus investigates the occurrence of intestinal worm infections in domestic fowl in a specific region. Three parasite species were identified: cestodes (Raillietina echinobothrida and Raillietina cesticillus) and nematodes (Ascaridia galli) with cestodes being more prevalent. The research emphasises the economic and health impacts of helminth infections in poultry noting their potential to cause poor growth reduced egg production and even mortality. The work highlights the variability in prevalence due to environmental factors rearing practices and hygiene levels. Despite the relatively low rate observed the presence of parasites in small samples underlines the need for continued surveillance and better parasite control in poultry farming.
