Paratuberculosis-A Hidden Threat to the Cattle Farms of Kathmandu

Bovine Paratuberculosis is not a new issue in Livestock Industry.The disease has been a hidden threat to South Asian countries where the loss due to this disease has been created a great economic burden to the farmers.The cost of treatment overrides the cost of the animal body its self .SoPrevention is better rather than to cure this disease. Many studies have shown that the disease has been established in the animal population and it may remain a barrier to trade livestock product out of the country.Recently the disease has been linked to Crohn's Disease of Human which has a Public Health importance. Strict quarantine culling of sick ones and strict biosecurity of farms may aid in disease curtailment. Thoughmany tests are availablethe fecal culture is only the gold standard test in the disease diagnosis.Author is the first person to isolate the bacteria from fecal culture in the laboratory of NARCunder the reference of Dr.Upendra Man Singhthe Senior Scientists of NARC Nepal.The book will be a guide to further researcher.
