Greer argues that zero-punishment parenting is a more humane and effective approach for raising children to become self-disciplined morally decent creative and responsible citizens. He builds the case based on his own family experiences as a child and a parent and his studies of historical theories of childrearing and contemporary studies of child development.</p><p><br></p><p>Ed Greer graduated from Columbia College Yale Law School and the Harvard School of Public Health. He was a political activist in the civil rights feminist and anti-war movements. He worked as an aide to the first Black mayor taught history politics and law in college and law school settings and was a civil litigator specializing in toxic torts and civil rights and liberties. He has written books about urban politics and toxic torts. He and his wife a biomedical researcher and professor at Harvard Medical School raised two children who are married and creative scientists on medical school faculties.</p>
