Parrot Colours

About The Book

As a grandfather to fifteen I have read many books about colours to toddlers and young children. I found them uninspired. There is so much natural form and colour in this world: cartoon drawings just can not compete. I asked myself What in the world has enough primary colours to teach little ones?

Then I discovered Histoire Naturelle des Perroquets by François Levaillant. The images created under the direction of Bouquet Professor of Drawing Prytanée of Paris in the early 1800's were astounding. I had found the perfect medium for teaching colour names to children everywhere.
