Participation of women and other marginalized groups

About The Book

This book is an in-depth study of the obstacles and opportunities linked to the inclusion of women and other marginalized groups (AGM) in decision-making and peacebuilding in the DRC more specifically in the Kabare and Walungu areas. It highlights the socio-cultural religious and economic factors influencing the participation of these groups and proposes possible solutions adapted to the local context.Using a qualitative approach the authors analyze the social norms and practices that encourage or hinder the empowerment of women and MGAs identify the community mechanisms that foster their leadership and list the initiatives and players committed to this cause. The book also highlights the role of religious institutions and traditions in perpetuating inequalities while emphasizing the need for economic empowerment to enable genuine inclusion in decision-making bodies. The results of this study reveal a gradual advance in the recognition of women's rights although cultural and structural resistance persists.
