This collection of Kurdish folk and fairy tales presents a quick glance at the Kurdish folklore that is essentially rich in stories and tales of kings princes shepherds common folks fairies ogres ogresses and so on. In a society that is deeply rooted in tradition and culture stories and storytelling are as a matter of fact embedded in the Kurdish collective unconscious and thus become part and parcel of the Kurdish mentality. In addition to giving an account of a world in which anything can happen the stories basically highlight such defining aspects of the Kurdish identity as courage honesty integrity ingenuity and above all endurance.
