Patterns of Injury in Fatal Motorcycle Traffic Incidents

Two wheeled motorcycles are cheaper to purchase convenient (manoeuvre through heavy traffic easily accessible and ideal for transportation of lighter loads at a fairer price).There has been a steady rise in the purchase and commercial use and with this a proportional rise in fatality and severity of injuries sustained in the unfortunate event they are involved in a Road Traffic Incident. Motorcycle morbidity and mortality are on the rise with hospitals being forced to allocate special wards to cater for the increasing burden. An understanding of patterns of injury in fatal motorcycle RTIs which may provide added information in the approach to management of patients post-crash and shed some light into the major pre-crash contributing factors.
