Pentagon Yearbook 2020: South Asia Defence and Strategic Perspective

Among the many defining developments in South Asia perhaps the most momentous event is the second term of Prime Minister Modi as the Prime Minister of India which is being referred to as Modi 2.0. The swearing-in was marked by invitations to leaders of most of the South Asian nations (except Pakistan). Some BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) nations were also invited thus reiterating the primacy of the `Neighbourhood First` policy in New Delhi`s politico-diplomatic economic and strategic framework.
