Staff turnover is one of the most important and widely discussed aspects of human resource planning today. Despite this there are few studies that address this issue in public institutions especially universities. In light of this this work presents an analysis of faculty turnover at a university campus outside the main campus located in the city of Catalão in the southeastern region of the state of Goiás. The research is applied in nature and descriptive in terms of its objectives. For this study with a qualitative approach the case study method was adopted using desk research to analyze the documents provided by the institution. The results reveal a high rate of teacher turnover. The absence of a human resources policy identified at the Catalão Campus of the Federal University of Goiás is a critical issue that deserves special attention. However this study does not intend to exhaust the subject in question; its purpose is to serve as a basis for future research.
