In response to the COVID-19 pandemic several candidate vaccines have been approved by WHO for use. However there is a low adherence to the vaccination campaign especially in Mali. The objective of this study was to investigate the perception of the social and health personnel and the population of the IV commune of the district of Bamako on the COVID-19 vaccine. This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study conducted from May to August 2021. Simple random sampling in two neighborhoods and a reasoned selection of social and health care personnel in the IV commune of the district of Bamako were carried out. The Pearson Chi-square test was used to verify the association between the variables. A total of 179 people from two neighborhoods and 50 health care workers from commune IV were surveyed. 7.8% of the population of the two neighborhoods and 58% of the health care workers had received at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Among the population 84.9% were not aware of the vaccine in use in Mali. Knowledge of the vaccine was associated with level of education (OR=0.04; 95% CI [0.02-0.09]; p=0.00) and occupation.
