PERKS AND PAINS

Perks and Pains is a story of a young and ambitious newly married couple Raj and Keya Ganguly who soon after their marriage flies off from the City of Joy - Kolkata India - to settle in the promising alluring city of Dubai. In no time the couple with a free fervent inimitable spirit blends the Indian tradition and their erstwhile middle class lifestyle with the plush modernity of the Emirates in one smooth flow. Cutting across all fine and gross socio-economic and politico-religious boundaries Keya pals up with Farida her Peshawari colleague and Taslima her domestic help from Bangladesh. Life starts getting peeled off layer after layer ... Taslima being tired of her consistent contradictions of life goes back for good; economic slump hits the world; Dubai helplessly stares at the economic collapse and scrambles for money; Raj loses his job due to massive downsizing and Raj and Keyas teenager daughter Tia goes through a deep emotional strife breaks down alienates from her parents as the family is forced to return to Kolkata. But can young Tia recreate a colourful canvas in the twilight of her trauma? Will she fall for a land weirdly welded by her glorious past and contemporary flaws? Will familial love friends festivals and frantic travels unite her to the city suffering from acute hypersomnia or will her family fly off to the sheltered sanctuaries of faraway lands once again?
