Steve DT's first photographic book is a collection of erotic photographs which celebrates and is inspired by the hopes and dreams of adult advertisers and their readers. Both the advertiser and the reader desire some control and change to invade their personal lives. In Personals the focus is on adverts from women and their quest for desires. The adverts featured in the book were genuine personal adverts from several sources (minus the real contact numbers); English Spanish and German Press. These columns used to be the backbone of many newspapers and magazines worldwide before the internet arrived. They were often overlooked but would never fail to interest the enquiring mind or passer-by. Here the use of European adverts is to reinforce the belief that desire in any language is universal in its meaning.
