Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a severe form of pregnancy nausea that goes far beyond the usual level. Affected women not only experience extreme physical discomfort such as insatiable vomiting weight loss and exhaustion but also deep psychological distress including isolation feelings of guilt and suicidal thoughts. This paper uses qualitative studies to shed light on how women perceive HG what coping strategies they develop and how they experience support from their social environment and the healthcare system. The results clearly show that HG is a complex crisis that requires holistic interdisciplinary and empathetic care.
