<p><em>Persuasion</em> by Jane Austen follows Anne Elliot a gentle and intelligent woman who years earlier was persuaded to break off her engagement to Frederick Wentworth a young naval officer of modest means. Eight years later Anne is still unmarried while Wentworth has returned wealthy and successful. Their paths cross again stirring old feelings and regrets. As Anne quietly endures her vain family's neglect and social pressures she and Wentworth slowly find their way back to each other.
