Pharmacogenomic Effect on Biopharmaceutics of Anti-Tubercular Therapy
English

About The Book

The first line anti-tuberculosis drugs are known to cause dose related adverse drug reactions like peripheral neuritis and hepatotoxicity. The risk of getting peripheral neuritis have been avoided through a concomitant administration of pyridoxine; while hepatotoxicity remains to be a major adverse effect of anti- tuberculosis therapy. Research findings state reduction in the incidence of hepatotoxicity by exploring a potential link between biopharmaceutical pattern of anti-tuberculosis drugs and genetic polymorphism of the enzymes metabolizing them. Reportedly a significant correlation has been found by pooling the data through a meta-analysis.
