PHENOMENOLOGICAL METHOD IN PSYCHOLOGY

About The Book

This book is about human phenomena experienced in the hospital context. We start from the assumption that it is the human beings who invest the world with meanings. To access the understanding of these phenomena we followed the Phenomenology for the description of lived experiences and the Hermeneutics for the interpretation of the meanings attributed to these experiences. It was therefore the empirical-phenomenological research that allowed the return to the experience to obtain comprehensive descriptions which gave the basis for the reflective structural analysis about the essence of the lived experiences. Thus the studies shared here express the effort to construct an interpretative description of aspects of life aware that the stories lived are always more complex than any explanation that the meaning may reveal. In this way Psychology approaches phenomenology in the elucidation of the relationship between what people think say and do grounding the connections between what is lived and the meaning.
