Photodynamics-a new emerging trend in dentistry

Recent advances in technology have led to a constant drive to develop novel approaches for the treatment of various dental diseases.Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged in recent years as a non – invasive therapeutic modality for the treatment of various infections by bacteria fungi and viruses.6 Although the original technique was first employed in the treatment of cancer7 during the last decade an increasing number of studies on photodynamic therapy application have been published in dentistry.
