Physics of White Dwarf Stars

The theoretical and observational study of the white dwarfs remains one of the most exciting fields in modern astronomy. Predictions regarding the properties of white dwarfs serve to test our understanding of matter at these high densities while theories of high density matter serve as a basis for interpreting observational results regarding these objects. Most exciting these objects bring together all four of the fundamental forces of nature and probe regimes not accessible in terrestrial laboratory.
