In recent years there has been an increased interest in the application of anthelmintic activity in medical treatment as information is constantly gathered linking the development of human diseases to oxidative stress. Dichrostachys cinerea (L) Wight & Arn are traditionally antimicrobial anticonvulsant astringent (roots) anthelminthic purgative laxative and diuretics (bark). More than half of the population of the world suffers from various types of infection and the majority of cattle suffer from worm infections hence based on ethnopharmacological information the present study is focused on the evaluation of the chemical and anthelmintic activity against intestinal worms. The ethyl acetate extract of Dichrostachys cinerea showed significant anthelmintic activity. If other related further studies and clinical trials are carried out it will open up new vistas in modern medicine. The present study could be concluded very clearly from the investigation that the Dichrostachys cinerea showed anthelminthic activity.
