This study presents the composition and ecological characteristics (richness diversity cell density and carbon biomass) of the phytoplankton community investigating the occurrence of potentially harmful microalgae and the influence of environmental factors in oyster farming areas in Camamu Bay Bahia Brazil. The microphytoplankton consisted of 79 taxa presenting diversities typical of oligotrophic coastal regions.
