Oxidative stress is the root cause of many degenerative diseases like arthritis with osteoarthritis being the most common. Negative serological tests such as Anti-streptolysin O titre and C-reactive protein indicated the absence of infection. Renal and liver function tests confirmed the safety of aniseed supplementation. The beneficial effect of aniseeds results from the synergistic action of bioactive compounds providing protection against oxidative stress-induced diseases like arthritis when consumed regularly.
